Beliefs

As Members of the St. Edmund Prep Community, we believe that:

  • Our faith, and the Catholic identity of our school, is at the core of everything we do.
  • Each teacher is a role model called upon to teach as Jesus did.
  • Providing opportunities to deepen our Catholic faith is essential for today's youth to develop a strong sense of self.
  • By providing students with a faith-based value system, they will be able to develop a strong moral compass.
  • A family atmosphere provides a safe and respectful environment where students of diverse backgrounds are welcome.
  • Providing a consistent atmosphere of direction and discipline will foster academic excellence.
  • All students can achieve academic success.
  • Success is achieved by striving to attain more than the minimum.
  • Each student be educated according to his or her individual needs.
  • Academic success is the direct result of active participation in one's own learning.
  • Each student be taught to become a critical thinker, a problem solver, and a decision maker.
  • Effective teachers are dedicated to their vocation, passionate about their subject, and show genuine care and concern for others.
  • An effective extracurricular program complements the school's academic course of study.
  • Providing students an outlet to enhance their creative, technical, and athletic abilities further develops their social skills.
  • All learn to respect the variety of cultures and attitudes that make for the richness of life.
  • The responsibility to educate is shared among the faculty, administration, parents, and community.
  • Education develops lifelong ethical responsibilities.
  • Not all learning takes place in the classroom, not all teaching is done by the faculty, and not all learning is done by the students.
  • Learning is a lifelong process.
  • Every individual is a vital part of the community and has a responsibility to give back to that community.
