The philosophy of the English Department is that communication, in all of its varied forms, is the foundation upon which all learning is predicated. The aim of the English Department is to prepare the students of St. Edmund Preparatory High School for a lifetime of communication in the English language by giving him or her a proficiency in the areas of writing, reading, vocabulary, and grammar as well as a deeper understanding and appreciation of the great writers and Literary works.
