Interact Club
Interact is Rotary International’s service and leadership club for young people ages 14 through 18. Interact Clubs are sponsored by individual Rotary Clubs, which provide support and guidance. We are sponsored by the Verrazano Rotary. Our club is self-governing and self-supporting.
We are required to complete at least two community service projects. St. Edmund Prep Interact has collected Pennies for Patients and sponsored the StreetCorner Gourmet Thanksgiving Project. The club has joined with the Inklings for an ice skating trip to Central Park or Prospect Park in December or January each year. We have also successfully raised funds in conjunction with St. Edmund Elementary and Most Precious Blood Elementary for Camp Phoenix (A day camp for children who have suffered from severe burns).
The club meets at least twice a month on Wednesdays after school in Room 405. The average time for a meeting is thirty minutes, not counting project time. There are usually 30 or so active members.
The following is a list of possible future endeavors:
- Help at a soup kitchen and/or Habitat for Humanity
- Volunteer at the Bridge to Life Program
- StreetCorner Gourmet Thanksgiving Project
- Some type of International project like Gift for Life
- Assist at the Open House and annual Café Night
We welcome all students to join our leadership and service organization!
