Exchange Program
St. Edmund Preparatory High School in Brooklyn and Saint Edmund Girls School and Wyvern College in Salisbury, England, celebrate their partnership that developed in the wake of the terrible events of September 11, 2001 through our Exchange Program.

How did our program begin?
Saint Edmund’s Girls School reached out to St. Edmund Prep following the horrors of September 11, 2001. The students conducted an internet search and found a school in Brooklyn, New York with a similar name. The students at St Edmund’s Girls’ School and Sports College contacted our school, sent cards, condolences and gave their support. Through this very kind act, a steadfast friendship evolved and our Exchange Program began.
On October 23, 2003, the student body of Saint Edmund Preparatory High School welcomed the St. Edmund’s Girls School as they launched their initial Exchange Program. The students from England were welcomed by families and students in Brooklyn. The students from Brooklyn were in turn welcomed by the families and students in England. The partnership formed is truly a partnership that exemplifies the beauty that is humanity. This partnership has flourished for five years and is now expanded to include the boys from Wyvern College in Salisbury, England.
Wyvern College is for boys only between the ages of eleven and sixteen. Wyvern has close links to Saint Edmund’s Girls School. They share a campus in Salisbury, England. Their joint activities include Performing Arts, charity work and community work through Interact Club. Saint Edmund Preparatory High School celebrates the expansion of our Exchange Program to include the boy’s school. Now both genders can share the benefits of this very special program.
How does the Exchange Program work?
The Exchange Program involves a selected number of students from Salisbury, England to be the guests of some of our current sophomores for approximately one week. The guests will learn about our educational system, visit some New York landmarks and make new friendships. The following July, our students in turn will travel to Salisbury, England and become the guests of their student-partners and live with their families for a week.
How can a student take part in the program?
Students who are interested in the Exchange Program can apply in their Freshman year. For more information regarding the Exchange Program please contact Exchange Program Coordinator Mrs. Lucy Mineo.
