Admissions Procedures

Grade 9

Students seeking entrance into Grade 9 for the 2009-2010 academic school year should contact Deacon Ron Rizzuto for information regarding admissions.

Grades 10/11

Students seeking to transfer into Grades 10 or 11 must first submit an up-to-date transcript for review by the school principal. The transcript should include all of the courses the student has taken to date and should also include any courses the student is enrolled in at his/her current school. Only after the principal accepts the student can he/she move on to the next step in the process. The principal is the sole arbiter in determining whether or not a transfer student will be accepted to the school. Transcripts should be sent to the school to the attention of Mr. Ray Malafronte. Transcripts can be mailed to:

Saint Edmund Prep
2474 Ocean Avenue
Brooklyn, NY 11229

or faxed to: (718) 743-5243.

Grade 12

It is the policy of Saint Edmund Prep HS not to accept transfer students in their Senior year except in very special cases where there are extenuating circumstances. The student’s parent(s) or guardian(s) must first contact the school to discuss the situation before any other action can take place.

International Students

All International students must obtain an I-20 from the United States Government in order to attend school in the United States. Saint Edmund Prep, in conjunction with the Diocese of Brooklyn, will assist eligible students in obtaining this document. International students seeking admission to Saint Edmund Prep HS must follow a number of procedures. First, a student must seek admission to the school providing he/she meets the requirements above. Once a student has been accepted by Saint Edmund Prep, he/she must submit the following documents:

            1. St. Edmund Prep Application
            2. Information Sheet
            3. Financial statement (this must be notarized by a Notary Public).

These documents can be downloaded from our Document Library.

Once these documents have been submitted to Saint Edmund Prep they will be reviewed and then forwarded to the Diocese of Brooklyn which will oversee the actual process of obtaining the student’s I-20. Please be aware that this process can take up to 6-8 weeks so it is important to submit everything in a timely fashion. Once the I-20 has been issued it will be mailed to the student’s legal guardian in this country. No copies will be sent to the student. It will be the responsibility of the student’s guardian to send the I-20 to the student in his/her home country.

If you have any further questions or would like to begin this process, please contact Mr. Ray Malafronte.
