Christmas at The Prep

Countdown to Christmas Raffle
Our Countdown to Christmas Raffle has begun and two lucky parents have already won $100 and $75 respectively.  It’s not too late to join in the fun!  Send your raffles in on Monday and you still have 23 chances to win a cash prize.  You can also purchase tickets online.  Remember, you gotta be in it to win it!

Christmas Wreath Drive
This coming week we will begin hanging our Christmas wreaths in a new tradition here at the Prep, started by the Parent Volunteer Committee and lead by MaryAnn McGlinden.  We look forward to honoring and memorializing many of the individuals, families, and teams who make the St. Edmund Prep community what it is.

Giving Tree
The Student Council, National Honor Society, and Christian Service students are collaborating on a Giving Tree during Advent.  The Giving Tree is located outside the Campus Ministry Office, and is decorated with gift tags, each inscribed with a gift suggestion.   Any student who would like to participate is welcome.  Just pick a gift tag, purchase the gift, reattach the tag and place it under the Giving Tree.  These gifts will be donated to children in need who otherwise would not have a Merry Christmas.

Adopt a Family
For the past two years, The Student Council has celebrated Christmas by adopting two homeless mothers and their newborns who reside at the Frances Residence at CHiPS. Thanks to the generous support of all during our lollipop sale, the student council has raised enough money to make Christmas bright and festive for them.  Thanks also to those who have donated new baby clothes, baby toys, formula, knitted blankets and hats for the newborns.  A wonderful outcome of this outreach is that the two mothers we helped last year have been able to establish themselves in new homes, are working, and enjoying life as a family.  The Student Council is very grateful to all who have supported this effort.

Senior/Faculty Christmas Show
Members of the Senior Class are hard at work putting the finishing touches on the Annual Christmas Show.  Held on Thursday, December 22nd, the Seniors write and stage a Christmas play with a supporting cast of Faculty members.  Rumor has it that this year’s show may just be the best one yet! It is one of the highlights on our school calendar and the perfect way to send our school community into the Christmas break.

The Christmas Play Dress Rehearsal is scheduled for Wednesday, December 21st at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium. The rehearsal allows the seniors to work out the kinks (and overcome any stage fright!) before the Big Show on Thursday, held for all students and faculty. Senior parents and alumni are welcome to join us for this sneak peek of the show.  Tickets for the dress rehearsal are $5.00 and can be purchased at the door.
