The St. Edmund Prep community has come together to support many service opportunities in previous years, such as the Dig Pink Campaign
, StreetCorner Gourmet
, Hunger Awareness, and Hurricane Relief
. This year, we are happy to introduce another school-wide service project in support of Project Night Night
, a charitable organization that works with over 10,000 volunteers each year, and is the leading provider of nighttime comforts for homeless children.
Under the leadership of the Student Council and the WoM (Works of Mercy) Squad, our goal is to create and donate 100 Night Night Packages - a canvas tote bag filled with a children’s book, a stuffed animal, and a baby blanket for ages 3 to 5. Our hope is that this is only the beginning of a larger goal, and we will be able to fill up 150, 200, or more totes.
Each month, we will be collecting a different item to be included in the Night Night package. In December, children’s books
, in January, stuffed animals
, and in February, baby blankets
. In March, we will assemble the tote bags and send them to a local shelter in New York City!
Each grade has their own bin outside the cafeteria where students can drop off their donations. The grade that collects the most items gets spirit week points in April. During those three months, students can also “sponsor” a tote bag, by purchasing one for $3.50, supporting Student Council bake sales, purchasing Project Night Night accessories or tickets to Student Council events.
In addition, to help raise funds for Project Night Night, Student Council is hosting a Lip Sync Battle on March 1st
. Students and faculty are welcome to come and support their friends, or join in on the fun! Collaborate with your friends to do an exciting and fun song with dancing and costumes!
