Career Day

Career DayCareer Day is an opportunity for St. Edmund Prep students to learn about different careers and explore fields of interest.  Alumni, parents and friends join us for the morning and meet with classes of students to share their experiences and advice regarding their chosen professions.  Speakers will cover topics such as educational requirements, job opportunities, and potential for advancement and growth.  This annual event encourages students to ask questions regarding their fields of interest and think about their ambitions for the future.

What are the details of Career Day?

This year's Career Day will take place on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.

Students will attend three 40-minute presentations facilitated by guest-speakers representing various career fields. Regularly scheduled academic classes will not take place during the first three periods of the day.

Please note the following:

  • The day will begin with all students reporting to homeroom by 8:15am. Students who may be free during first period will still need to report to homeroom by 8:15am, or they will be marked late/absent.
  • If a student happens to miss their entire first-scheduled presentation of the day, it will be treated as a cut class.  If a student misses two presentations, it will be two cut classes, etc.
  • Career Day is a mandatory event; all students will participate, and attendance will be taken prior to the start of each presentation.

Hopefully, you will take the time to review the materials posted here and throughout the building so that you may record your preferences on the Career Day preference survey which will be distributed via students' SEP email on Monday, March 11th.

What careers will be represented?

20 Career fields will be represented by parents, alumni, and friends of the St. Edmund Prep Community. The full listing of the presenters and their biographies are available below.

How do I sign up for Presentations?

On Monday, March 11th, each student will receive a Career Day preference survey via their SEP email. Students will select the top five (5) presentations they would like to attend and will be scheduled to attend three (3) presentations.  Students will be scheduled, to the best of our ability, according to their preferences. Students should complete the preference survey no later than the end of the extended Homeroom on Wednesday, March 13th.

If you have any questions, please feel free to see Mrs. Blum in the Development Office in Room 208.
