CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY (Washington, D.C.) - APPLIED MATH CAMP PreCollege Summer Program

APPLIED MATH IN ACTION AT CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY

JUNE 23-28, 2019

SUNDAY-FRIDAY

See where math can take you!

A fun look at applied mathematics to inspire students to study STEM fields -- everything from creating and cracking codes to trips around Washington DC, including the National Monuments, NASA, the NSA Cryptologic Museum, and the Air and Space Museum (see the 2019 tentative schedule here) .

Students will get to experience campus life by living for one week at The Catholic University of America in our nation's Capitol!

How much math do I need? We require basic high school math. Applied math features current topics that are outside of the normal high school curriculum, and students will be taught the skills needed to complete the group projects.

What grades can attend? This program is for any high school/pre-college student interested in mathematics. This includes students who will have graduated high school in 2019 and are looking for a pre-college experience.

Where will students live? Students will live in the dormitories on Catholic University's campus from Sunday through Friday, and have meals in the cafeteria in the Pryzbla Student Center.

How much supervision is there? Aside from the faculty, there will be counselors, who will stay in the dormitories with the students and accompany them throughout the day.

What is the schedule? You can see the tentative 2019 schedule here.

What is the cost? The costs for 2019 are a $50 application fee + $990 registration fee, and includes instruction, room and board from Sunday through Friday, and admissions to museums and events. Airport pick-up/drop-off is also available for an additional $60

What is the application deadline? Students can apply until May 1. However, we accept students on a rolling basis and our capacity for the program is 30 students. If the program fills up before May 1, we will close the application process early.

How do I pay the application fee or the registration fee? Go to the "How to Apply/Register? above, or click here.

Can you accommodate special diets? Yes, Catholic University's dining services can arrange for special meals for you. Just let us know at least 2 weeks before you arrive.

How may students are in the program? We have a limit of 30 students.

  • Casual clothing appropriate for warm Washington DC summer days
