2021 Senior Spotlights
2021 Senior Spotlights
On May 1st, College Acceptance Day, members of the Class of 2021 were invited to share a bit of their story that has led them to graduation day in our Senior Spotlight.
"Mr. Pinnavaia’s Career and Financial Management class and Mr. Scanlon's Economics class have taught me the importance of being financially responsible and starting my career young. This is why I decided to choose City Tech to pursue a career as a radiologic technologist."
"My time in IB classes were incredibly valuable assets for my preparation for college. And I couldn't be more glad I chose to take them."
"Throughout the last 2 years in the IB program, my teachers have molded me into a dedicated, hardworking student no matter the project I am working on. They have uniquely prepared me to succeed in college and beyond"
" I knew SEP was the place to be when I started 9th grade and 4 years later I can still say it was the best choice. SEP’s staff and teachers have always been helpful, kind, and supportive. I look forward to embarking on my new journey that SEP has prepared me for."
"I have always shown interest in the finance industry. However, through the school's financial based classes it furthered my interest a lot. Fr. Mark's College Accounting class motivated me to further my education in this career path."
"The lasting lesson I learned in my four years at SEP is that anything is possible when you put your mind to it"
"My experience in the SEP Big Band with Mr. G introduced me to the value of dedication, diligence, and passion for music and in all that I pursue, preparing me for college and beyond."
"Going on the Emmaus Retreat was an experience that I will never forget. It opened my mind up to so many new ideas, about myself and about others. It brought me closer to my peers and to the teachers that attended like Mr. Grillo and Mrs. Lemmon. I feel that having this experience helped me become the person I am today."
"Being able to take part in the IB Program has prepared me for what to expect in college. It has taught me how to become a better writer, to manage my time accordingly, and introduced the workload that will be required of me."
"I'm so grateful for the personal relationships I formed with my teachers, counselors, and administrators. Every person I met along my time at St. Edmund Prep took an interest in my success and helped me to realize my potential. For that I will always be thankful"
"During my SEP experience I am most proud of being an Emmaus Team Leader. This is because I am be able to make a positive impact on the girls of Emmaus 71. Being able to have Emmaus 71 and Emmaus 72 was a huge step back into reality that all of us needed. These young women and men have trusted the senior team leaders and adult team leaders with their story. Making it the greatest gift that anyone could ever give."
"I am so grateful to have been able to explore my passions and develop new ones at SEP. My elective courses in computer programming, including AP CS, showed me a whole new world which I never considered before."
"I'm most proud of the relationships I formed during my time at SEP. I've made a lot of great friends and experienced so much during my four years with them."
"Mr. Scanlon taught me a lot of important life lessons including "writing a lot isn't always better". I know will remember him and all that he taught me for years to come"
"As a member of the Boys Varsity Basketball Team, I am grateful to my coaches for all they have taught me. I will carry the values of hard-work, teamwork, and persistence for the rest of my life."
"I will always remember the Emmaus retreat I made with my teachers and fellow students. Not only did I develop stronger relationships with them, but I also learned to collaborate with people fully, which is an experience that will last a lifetime."
"My teachers have taught me so many really practical life skills that I know will carry me through my years after St. Edmund Prep. The knowledge they have passed on to us and their care for us each individually will be something I will remember for a long time."
"My time in model congress has prepared me for college, because it taught me to think analytically and to be aware of the world around me. During model congress, I had to learn about current events and become a better debater. The public speaking skills I’ve gained will help me to succeed."
"The IB program has prepared me for college level courses while allowing me to make great relationships with my teachers and classmates as we formed this community of learners together!"
"Theater with Ms. McEvoy and Mr. O'Donnell at SEP has given me the tools I need to express myself and perform in front of people. I know this experience will help me throughout my career in expressing ideas and in public speaking."
"St. Edmund Prep helped me to discover what I'm passionate about through my experiences in the classroom. I'm excited to continue my education at Iona in the fall."
“Taking AP classes helped prepare me for the work that would be given in college. I’m more prepared for the transition to college because of these classes and my teachers.”
"I am very grateful for everyone at St. Edmund Prep that has guided me in the right direction over the past four years. I am so thankful for the friends I have made and the personal relationships I have formed with my teachers and counselors. St. Edmund Prep has always guided me in the right direction and they have put me in the right position to succeed in life."
“Having the experience of going on the Emmaus Retreat made me more open minded to not only new things for myself but in also meeting new people.”
“I made my high school years the best that it could be. I met new people and made friends along the way. The teachers also had an major role in making my experience at SEP the best. They were there throughout all the years when I needed help or just someone to talk to.”
"I am so proud of how much I learned in my time at St. Edmund Prep. It could have been from lessons in class or with friends, I learned a lot, especially about music. I learned so much about music especially from Mr.G and I am so grateful for the chance to get to learn this much."
"The IB program at SEP has taught me that passion and hard work can combine beautifully if one allows it to. In the past four years, I have found my curriculum to be so inspiring that I was looking forward to more of it every day."
" St. Edmund Prep instilled in me the value of service. I am proud to enlist in the United States Marine Corps to serve my country"
“My past four years at SEP has taught me what teamwork and family is. Being a part of the volleyball and softball teams has allowed me to take on new opportunities and experiences.”
"My time at SEP has helped me realize that you can't waste time for your future. Mr. Gucciardi has always told me that If you have a dream, go after it and never give up. As I prepare myself for college, I will always remember the good moments I cherished in high school."
"I am very thankful to everyone at St. Edmund Prep that have prepared and guided me over the last 4 years. I am so thankful for the friends and family I have made along the way. St. Edmund Prep has given me the knowledge and to succeed wherever life takes me."
My experience at Saint Edmunds was great in total. But my time on the emmaus retreats will be a time I will never forget. I had an experience that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I am thankful for everything that I’ve done in my four years here
