Girls Varsity Basketball
Being the underdog is a position the Varsity Girls Basketball Team have been in the last couple games against Fontbonne Hall. And the BQ Championship was no different, but after a week of really good practices, the Eagles were ready to pull off this historical win. The game plan was simple, stop their best player from controlling the game and we win. And that’s what happened, Senior Nicolette Ramaglia took on the challenge of guarding their best player all the way up and down the court, frustrating her into taking bad shots and committing a lot of turnovers. Along with Nicolette, Junior Stella Collins and Freshmen Kaitlyn Jack combined for 13 blocks. On the offensive end, sophomore Maria Manouselakis controlled the pace of the game for the Eagles finishing with a full stat line of 9 pts, 5 rebs and 3 assists and Ramaglia didn’t just help on defense, she was very efficient on offense as well finishing with 16 pts and going 8-9 from the foul line in the 4th quarter to help seal the first Brooklyn Queens Championship for the Girls Varsity Basketball program since 2014-15.

The JV Eagles began their playoff run against Monsignor McClancy in the quarterfinals. The game was a battle and was decided by some last minute game winning plays by the Eagles. The boys advanced to the Semifinals to play against St. John's Prep. From Start to finish, the Eagles dominated the Semifinals game. They displayed all of their hard work and preparation which resulted in a convincing win to advance to the Championship game against St Joseph By The Sea. The Eagles knew that this wouldn’t be an easy opponent. Even though they defeated them twice in the regular season, St Joseph By The Sea was a well coached, hard nose team. The Eagles weren’t going to let any team come in between their desire for a championship. The Final game started off close, but once the third quarter started , the Eagles put their foot on the gas and established a 20-point lead. In the 4th quarter, they stayed disciplined and came out on top to win the JV 'A' Division City Championship for the first time in 25 years, making this a season to never forget.
