Pre-College Summer Programs: Stevens Institute & NYU

STEVENS INSTITUTE:

Exciting Summer Opportunities are available for high school students (aged 15 - 17 years) at Stevens Institute of Technology located in Hoboken, New Jersey just minutes from Midtown Manhattan.

All of our summer programs focus on the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) fields of study. Below is brief introduction to each program. For a full description of each program, please click here.

Foundations in Electronic Music: Learning composition, songwriting, recording, production, beatmaking, remixing and live performance — everything students need to develop their creative practice and produce original music.

Game Design: Develop an original video game from start to finish in just two weeks! This interdisciplinary program allows students to merge art, design, play, storytelling, and computer science.

Business Explorer: An overview of the fundamentals of business management and how they interrelate with technology. This program reviews a multitude of majors within the business field such as marketing, management, accounting, information systems and much more!

Entrepreneurship: From an Idea to a StartUp: Working with experienced entrepreneurs, students will refine an idea for a product or service, conduct market research with prospective customers, build a website showcasing your idea and pitch it to a panel of accomplished investors and professors.

Exploring Career Options in Engineering & Science (ECOES): An overview of the broad range of topics that are relevant and cutting edge in the fields of engineering and science. Explore engineering disciplines such as Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Environmental, Navel and much more! 

Intermediate Computer Science: This fresh series is packed with accelerated modules on topics such as scientific computing, cyber security, artificial intelligence, graphics and system design.

Pre-Med Biology: Students will attend lectures and labs that touch on cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, physiology, immunology and analytical chemistry. 

STEM Law & Policy: This program culminates in a Mock Congress - where students will draft legislation, design studies to test the efficacy of their proposal, work in committees to hold hearings on topic-specific research, and give persuasive floor speeches.

Designing Virtual Reality Experiences: Learn to create immersive 3D virtual reality experiences. This program will cover the history of VR up to the most recent developments in the software and hardware behind creating fully immersive VR experiences. This hands on interdisciplinary program merges art, 3D modeling, design, sound, storytelling and immersive media creation tools.

All of our programs are 100% residential, so the students will have the full experience of living life like a college student. While the programs run for one to two weeks, students are more than welcome to partake in multiple programs to extend their stay at Stevens. Costs range from $2000 - $3400 and are all inclusive (program fee, room and board, excursions, airport pick-up / drop-off).

NYU: CALI SUMMER PROGRAM:

 

There's still time for students to apply to the NYU College Access Leadership Institute!
NYU CALI is a five-day residential program for current high school sophomores and juniors, taking place from July 16th to July 21st, that aims to demystify the college admissions process. The program will include workshops and small group sessions on a variety of topics, including:
  • College admissions
  • College entrance test preparation
  • Essay and resume writing
  • Interviewing and presentation skills
  • Financial aid literacy 
NYU CALI graduates become certified College Access Ambassadors and will act as mentors and advisers in their high schools by conducting their very own college application workshop.
Successful applicants to the program are academically talented high school students from underrepresented communities in the New York metro area who demonstrate exceptional leadership abilities in their schools and communities. If selected, students are awarded a full scholarship to NYU CALI and are only expected to cover travel expenses to and from NYU.
Space in NYU CALI is limited, so please encourage your students to apply early! The deadline is April 1st.
